Just in time for U. S. Open Tennis, Bacardi’s ‘Champions Drink Responsibly’ campaign, spearheaded by tennis star Rafael Nadal, mixed up a series of non-alcoholic mocktails created by some of New York’s hottest mixologists. Subbing for Mr. Nadal who is sidelined with an injury, was Australian Open tennis champion Victoria Azarenka, who took her job seriously as top judge of the “Mix With Victoria” event. Flitting from bar to bar, she tasted each of the five mocktails with enthusiasm before making her decision. The audience was kept in suspense for a while, but finally a decision was reached and the nod went to L’Oubil bar mixologist Pamela Wiznitzer and her ‘Champion mix’ mocktail, which becomes the signature drink of Bacardi’s world-wide campaign. Ms. Wiznitzer was taken by surprise as she was proclaimed the winner. “I can’t believe Victoria has picked my mocktail. She was so friendly and down to earth and a great ambassador.”
Bacardi’s ‘Champions Drink Responsibly’ is just one of many responsibility campaigns that Bacardi has initiated going as far back as the 1930’s.
