What's New?

In this issue...

You'll notice this issue is a bit thin.  It's Turkey week, after all.  We're slaving away in the kitchen prepping for the big day.

Not really.  But we're taking a much needed break this week.

So please click on the link below to a re-cap of my birthday experience:

The Bartender's Gin Compendium

Compendium - a concise, yet comprehensive compilation of a body of knowledge.
-Wikepedia, the free Encyclopedia

Good pal and mentor Gary Regan recently released his "Bartender's Gin Compendium" to raving reviews.  This book is for bartenders and enthusiasts alike, with humorous anecdotes and tasty recipes to boot.

Click here for more info on Gaz's book and to buy yourselves a copy.

 Lush Life cover

Another good pal and amazing characaturist Jill DeGroff just released her lovely book, "The Lush Life: Portraits from the Bar."  In it you'll find some of your favorite characters from behind the bar, and the stories that make up their quirky lives.

You'll want to follow this link HERE to grab a copy.

Vintage Cocktails

I've known Brian Van Flandern for several years now.  We've worked together in several capacities, and I highly admire his work.  I also admire the fact that he put out a cocktail recipe book.  Modeled as a coffee table book, Vintage Cocktails is filled with classy pics and fun recipes.  It's a great holiday or anyday gift for your favorite tippler.

This LINK will transport you to a page in which you may purchase this book.

Central Park Cobbler

I've created this drink for a restaurant that will soon be open in Harlem.  It's called "Harmony," and it is sure to be a destination spot!

Central Park Cobbler
1 oz. Williams & Humbert Dry Sack Medium Dry Amontillado Sherry
1 oz. 10 Cane Rum
1/2 oz. Grand Marnier
1/2 oz. Agave nectar
Several blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries
4 basil leaves
Directions: In a mixing glass, muddle the berries, basil, and agave.  Add remaining ingredients and shake very well with ice.  Strain over crushed ice into wine glass.
Garnish: basil leaf and berries
