Booze Briefs:
What's New?

It seems the folks at The Today Show in NY, for some odd reason, keep having me back. Personally, I think it's because I come with booze.
I've included some video clips of my appearances below.
I'll also be appearing on the 4th hour of the national Today Show with Kathy Lee and Hoda on New Year's Eve day some time between 10am and 11am.

Good pal and mentor Gary Regan recently released his "Bartender's Gin Compendium" to raving reviews. This book is for bartenders and enthusiasts alike, with humorous anecdotes and tasty recipes to boot.

Another good pal and amazing characaturist Jill DeGroff just released her lovely book, "The Lush Life: Portraits from the Bar." In it you'll find some of your favorite characters from behind the bar, and the stories that make up their quirky lives.
You'll want to follow this link HERE to grab a copy.
I've known Brian Van Flandern for several years now. We've worked together in several capacities, and I highly admire his work. I also admire the fact that he put out a cocktail recipe book. Modeled as a coffee table book, Vintage Cocktails is filled with classy pics and fun recipes. It's a great holiday or anyday gift for your favorite tippler.

The USBG NY Chapter
Goings-on...
We've had a great year here in NY with our USBG chapter. We've grown exponentially, and I'm very thankful for it.
We've got loads of things up our sleeves for this upcoming year, including more educational experiences, competitions, trips...
What a great way to bond, network, and learn from your fellow bartender compatriots!

Business Class:
In the city of Brotherly Love.
I recently had the pleasure of accompanying not just any old group of bartenders, but a group of bartenders who happen to be members of the U. S. Bartenders' Guild NY Chapter, on a 2-day trip to Philadelphia.
My goal is to write up a proper article on our experience in Philly, but due to time constraints, I'll give you a quick run-down (with a full article to appear on my blog in the weeks to come)...
Bus ride down to Philly on Sunday morning
Rain-soaked shoes
Bluecoat Gin, Vieux Carre Absinthe, and William Penn Vodka
Lunch at the Distillery.
Check in at Philly Marriott - our digs for the night.
Bluecoat Happy Hour at Apothecary Bar. Thanks guys!
Dinner and tequila seminar at "Tequila's", led by owner David Suro-Pinera (he also happens to have his own tequila brand, Siembra Azul)
Long live the Jimadors!
Bar Crawl...The Franklin, Pen and Pencil, some Middle Eastern hookah lounge, the rest is a blur...
Rest our weary eyes.

Tom & Jerry
I'm going to be lazy and magically transport you over to my good pal Paul Clark's blog (The Cocktail Chronicles) in which he speaks of the Tom and Jerry cocktail.
This holiday tradition is a MUST for all of us drink enthusiasts.
If you happen to be in Manhattan on Christmas Eve (tomorrow), come by Bookmarks Lounge (41st and Madison Ave at the Library Hotel) between 5 and 7pm where I'll be serving up some classic Tom and Jerrys.
